CUSD Update - April 1 2020
Schools closed for 2019-2020 year
As of April 1st, California Governor Gavin Newsom and California State Superintendent Tony Thurmond have stated that school buildings in California will remain closed for the remainder of the school year due to needed action to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Teachers will continue with remote instruction throughout school closures. Spring Break will continue as previously scheduled during the week of April 12, 2020.
The shelter at home order and all other Public Health, county and state guidance remain in place. Schools will continue to provide essential services, including food service to students.
With the extension of school closures, CUSD wants to remind the community that school campuses are closed to the public. In collaboration with city agencies, CUSD is requesting that community members do not come onto school campuses, which includes play structures, blacktop spaces, and fields. Please do not allow your children and teens to be on school campuses. The custodians have been working very hard to keep our schools sanitized and safe, and with schools closed, there is no reason for anyone to be on campus right now.
The district website has a variety of resources available for families, in addition to family and community resources to help support students with stress and anxiety around this type of issue and is updated regularly with school closure information.
